bullet2010 Picnic a great time: about 80 folks attended on hot, breezy day featuring  good company, good food and interesting softball to watch.

Also, the maintenance crew at Olney Manor Park helped our preparation by getting the tables and grills in good order.

Tait Tournament” & All Star Weekend”

            Saturday and Sunday, July 17 and 18, 2009 is All Star Weekend.  

Saturday, at 9:30 a.m., with the All Star game between the 60+ teams from Daytime versus the Night league. the Co-Rec All Star teams.  

At 11:00  While the games are going on, the Annual MCSSA Picnic will begin at 11:00  a.m. in the picnic grounds just beyond the fence of Field #4.  As usual, there is a small fee ($5) for food and each person is required to bring their own beverages, dessert and folding chairs, although there will be tables available at the park.  See sign up details below

Then at 11:30 a.m. a brief ceremony changing the name of thr Tuesday/Thursday morning league to the Ross Emerson Softball League.             

At 1:00 p.m. the All Star game between the 50+ Tuesday night league versus the Friday night Draft league.  

 All games will be played on Olney Manor Field #4.  The games will be a single nine-inning affair.  The prizes here are the bragging rights for the coming year over the conquered opponents.  It is a lot of fun and teams are encouraged to bring out their fan clubs to see the games.

           

On Sunday July 18 we will be conducting the Fourteenth Annual MCSSA “Bill Tait” Invitational Softball Tournament at Olney Manor Park.  

There will be four 65+ teams (Bowie, Delaware, Montgomery County and Carroll County) along with four 70+ teams (Bowie, Delaware, Brandywine and Montgomery County) participating.  In addition there will be four 75+ teams .

8:30 a.m. The first round of games are played  amongst all three groups.   9:45 a.m.  We have the “Opening Ceremonies” on Field #4.  The ceremony consists of teams lining the softball diamond while a Color Guard presents the U.S. Colors for the singing of the National Anthem.  This is followed by brief remarks by a guest speaker and then the team managers are introduced.  To officially get the tournament underway there will be a ceremonial “first-pitch” from an invited guest

A team trophy as well as individual “desk trophies” will be presented to the winners in each age bracket.  A First Aid Unit will be present all day.

Open to all MCSSA members, spouses and guests. Join your friends for a great day of food, fun, and fellowship. Hot Dogs, hamburgers, veggie-burgers furnished. Play in the Horse Shoe Tournament and watch All Star games on Field #4.

Bring your own beverage (MCPPC allows no alcohol).  Those born on an even year please bring desert or fruit to share.  Those born on an odd year please bring a salad, vegetable or side dish (devilled eggs, baked beans, etc.) to share.

There are plenty of picnic tables, but some may wish to bring comfortable folding chairs.
